About geo.pick

The GEOgraphic PICKer - or geo.pick (formerly Geo-Pick) - was born out of a simple idea: a random country and/or city picker, that picks actual countries and cities from anywhere in the world.

The idea for the site came when the founder had difficulty choosing where they wanted to go on vacation next. Favouring travelling off the beaten path - as opposed to tourist resorts and popular destinations - travel agents and other travel- and holiday-related web sites couldn't be relied on.

One of the strategies the founder suggested for choosing here to go, was the proverbial "spin the globe". Have you ever spun a globe and stuck your finger, or a pin, into it before it stopped spinning?

The only problem was that a globe wasn't available, and they were way too expensive to stick pins in. Apart from that, it would still be a lot easier to pick certain (and ironically more popular) countries over others. It was then decided that a completely random solution, which could only be provided by a computer, was to be built.

After many man-hours, stressed brain cells and a customised backend resulting in many more man-hours, and a design that consumed even more man-hours, the result is geo.pick: THE random city and random country picker.

Now you can choose literally any country and city in the world, with the help of geo.pick. It exposes you to places you never knew existed.
